Hi there, nice to meet you!
I’m Nagi, and RecipeTin Eats is my corner of the internet!
I’m the voice, cook and eater behind RecipeTin Eats. I create recipes, take photos of them, write them up and make recipe tutorial videos. Oh, and I have a food bank – RecipeTin Meals – and I wrote a cookbook too!

I live in beautiful Sydney, Australia, and have an unhealthy obsession with all things food and my dog Dozer, an abnormally large and very cheeky golden retriever.
When I say he’s “abnormally large”, I mean it! Proof:

(OK, possibly I am a little on the short side too….😂)
My recipes
My website reflects my philosophy on food and cooking – fast, creative, clever and fresh.
That’s fast meals for busy weeknights.
Creative new ideas and fresh takes on favourites to shortcut preparation, cut down on cost and create food with style.
Clever cooking so that you don’t sacrifice taste just because you’re short on time and on a budget. I’ll show you how to get gourmet flavours out of budget ingredients and how you can get organised so it’s a breeze to serve up nourishing meals to your family that will knock their socks off.
And fresh meals that are made from scratch. I don’t use store bought packet mixes or canned soup.

My recipes are cost conscious, made using everyday ingredients and (mostly) pretty healthy. I don’t use a tub of cream or blocks of cream cheese in every sauce, and I only deep fry when I really think it’s worth it.
But, sometimes I feel the need to unleash the demon within. 🙂

OK, maybe a little more than sometimes……

A bit about me …
Born in Japan, raised in Sydney, Australia, I’ve travelled the world from Europe to the Middle East, across Asia and America.
In a previous life, I worked in corporate finance. Though I thoroughly enjoyed my “first” career, I wanted to pursue a future where my passion really lies – food. 🙂
Today, I’m extremely fortunate to be able to say that I make a living doing what I truly love – creating and sharing my favourite recipes with people from all over the world.
Growing up, budget was tight and even though my mother worked full time, we dined like royalty because she was so creative in the kitchen. And this is why I know it’s possible to make great, fresh food even if you’re short on time and on a budget.

The recipes on my blog draws on influences from my travels, my ever evolving fascination with how just a few simple ingredients can transform into something that tastes so amazing, and learning genius tricks from the masters of the world.
I want to show you how to make vibrant recipes made with everyday ingredients, spanning cuisines from around the world as well as classic comforts. Delicious recipes with the “wow” factor that are simple to make, cost effective and can often be prepared ahead.
I hope you find something on here to your taste! – Nagi x

What you will find on RecipeTin Eats
Seriously tasty simple recipes made using everyday ingredients. I don’t shop at gourmet stores.
Exciting New Ideas for Fast Midweek Meals.
Takeout favourites that truly taste like what you get at restaurants.
Easy recipes from around the world.
Can’t-Live-Without Classics. 🙂
Salads with oomph! Because if I’m having a salad as a meal, it’s got to be something special!
Cooking for a crowd. I like to entertain. So many of my recipes are convenient for cooking for a crowd, whether it be easy to make in large volumes, or make ahead.
Tried and tested recipes. I take great care to ensure my recipes work and are written concisely. I also add notes to help with substitutions (where possible) and explanations for things that I think may not be familiar to everyone.

What you won’t find on my blog
I don’t follow trends for the sake of it. I only share recipes I truly love. There will never be a cauliflower crust pizza on my blog.
I do not sacrifice taste just for the sake of reducing calories (or following a trend). My healthy recipes are accidentally healthy.
Food that looks pretty but tastes blah. Never, ever, ever!
Recipes with shortcuts that compromise on flavour. I will cheat at every opportunity. So long as it doesn’t compromise on flavour.

Difference in measures between countries
DID YOU KNOW….? Cups, tablespoons and teaspoon sizes differ between countries. For the vast majority of my recipes, the difference is not enough to affect the recipes – this mostly holds true for savoury recipes.
However, for baking recipes like cakes, slices, delicate desserts and especially cookies, the slight difference between measurements does matter.
So I ensure that my baking recipes are tested and written so that they will work for cooks in different countries. This also applies to any savoury recipes that are affected as well.

Oh – and I have a food bank!
During the height of the pandemic in 2021 when there was increased food insecurity in my community, I started my food bank, RecipeTin Meals, where we make homemade meals which are donated to the vulnerable.
I have 3 full time chefs who work in the kitchen making meals 5 days a week. Many of the recipes we use are from my website!

Hello Nagi
Chicken Tenders excellent and simple. loved the KFC style gravy and yes it’s better.
Singapore Chilli Crab next on the list !! Patiently waiting for the book. Thank you for changing my cooking ways. Keep up the great work.
Today, I’ve made naan for the first time ever for my family using your recipe. For the past week, I’ve been researching for the perfect recipe to try. I came across your youtube channel last night and decided to give it a try today with my butter chicken dish. My kids(9 & 7 yr old) are tough critics and trying new recipe is a huge risk because if they don’t like the dish, my husband and I would have to eat it all, but mostly me. Long story short, your naan recipe was a big hit! My husband loved it as well. I also tried one naan with cheese and my son didn’t want to eat it as he prefers to have it for breakfast tomorrow. I like the idea that I can make the dough ahead of time. So I might just do that tonight and bake more for him tomorrow morning before school. Thank you for sharing your amazing naan recipe. BTW, I cooked the naan on our pizza stone in the oven and they turned out fantastic(fluffy, moist, and light just like the restaurant)! When I tried one on the ceramic pan, it came out flat. So from now on, pizza stone it is!
Hi, was looking for a simple pad thai recipe and I found your blog. I am looking forward to exploring your recipes! Thank you!

Hello Nagi! It is very nice to have found your website and recipes! I am seeking clean healthy meals for my husband and me. We need to eat at home more and eat better. We live in Florida, USA now, however, we moved here from Georgia.. I am originally born and raised in Souther California area (near Disneyland) got married, had a corporate career in Human Resources, we had 2 beautiful children. My husband and my son both passed away in 2015 and my daughter and her husband insisted I move with them which brought me across our beautiful country to Georgia. I met my new husband in 2018 and we were married in 2019 on his Dad’s 96th birthday. Yes Dad is still around at 98! We are so blessed. That said, my new husband, an executive in the aviation industry, owned his own business and sold his business in 2018 to his Son. My husband likes to eat out and is very picky about his food and it must have flavor. I considered myself a good cook until I met him. He is very picky. He loves salsbury steak and I found your recipe this morning and will try it tonight. Looking forward to viewing other recipes.
Best,

I also like to cook and baking but never give up. I think you can do it and need dometimes to rest, don’t just keen doing as you work for yourself and not working for someone. Ok! Keep up!!
Nagi, your site is a national treasure. I’ve tried many of your dishes, always with success. I love the rich tapestry of personal experience you weave into every recipe. Thank you for sharing your passion for food with the world!
I love your recipes. Why don’t I see your recipes on Facebook any more?
They are still there…that would be Facebook! Try searching me up on Facebook and clicking on a few recipes or following and see if that helps! AND… you can always find them on the website. N x
I love your recipes, they are always my go to recipes. When people ask me for the recipe, I tell them this is from my Aussie friend’s recipe. My children thinks it’s so funny. Love all your recipes and I am looking forward to seeing your cook book.
Thanks! N x
Love your cupcake and buttercake recipes! I make the all in together vanilla buttercake, (similar recipe) which is as light as yours, but with larger crumbs, but when I use for cupcakes, they sink a bit. So yours is now the one. I’ve been baking for 63 years, and can always learn something from young people. X
I am mother of your neighbour
Neva. I am a big fan of your recipes. Love your sense of humor. And can’t wait for your recipe book to be published. And adore Dozer.
XXX
Hello Julia! I feel very lucky to have such lovely neighbours! Neva is just so incredibly lovely and SUCH an amazing cook! Her chocolate ice cream was ridiculously good. Rich but not overly so, I ate the whole tub by myself in 2 sittings!!! N xx
Please add my address to your list. Thank you.
I love your recipes and your great sense of humor. I also love and laugh with your pal.
Hi Nagi,
You have NO idea how much I love your email messages. I can’t decide what I enjoy more your adventures and recipes or life with Dozer. I am such a puppy Mom and love you include him each email.
No defeat…..You just can’t go 24/7 with out a little break. Your mind will continue to work and after the “pause” you’ll have tons of ideas backed up in that brain of yours.
Thank you for all you do. :O)
Hi Nagi you are one heck of a lady – creative, entertaining, passionate a fab blogger and great “Mum” to your beloved Dozer. Not forgetting a simply amazing chef. Glad you are sensibly taking time out to concentrate on your cookbook. You are not super-human afterall. Enjoy a bit of playtime with Dozer and concentrate on your cookbook. You are one clever lady! Libby from Christchurch, New Zealand just across the “ditch”! 🤗
In my view Nagi you are truly a “chef” your food is amazing and you do very much put in “the hard yards”. Take a bow Nagi you deserve it!😃
Thanks for this lovely supportive message Libby!! But I am not a chef 🙂 I’m just a home cook who learnt how to communicate recipes online!! I feel it’s an insult to chefs to pretend I am one, they put in the hard yards to earn that title. I have not! N xx
Hi
I hope you and your family, and Dozer are safe.

Thanks! N x
