Hi there, nice to meet you!
I’m Nagi, and RecipeTin Eats is my corner of the internet!
I’m the voice, cook and eater behind RecipeTin Eats. I create recipes, take photos of them, write them up and make recipe tutorial videos. Oh, and I have a food bank – RecipeTin Meals – and I wrote a cookbook too!

I live in beautiful Sydney, Australia, and have an unhealthy obsession with all things food and my dog Dozer, an abnormally large and very cheeky golden retriever.
When I say he’s “abnormally large”, I mean it! Proof:

(OK, possibly I am a little on the short side too….😂)
My recipes
My website reflects my philosophy on food and cooking – fast, creative, clever and fresh.
That’s fast meals for busy weeknights.
Creative new ideas and fresh takes on favourites to shortcut preparation, cut down on cost and create food with style.
Clever cooking so that you don’t sacrifice taste just because you’re short on time and on a budget. I’ll show you how to get gourmet flavours out of budget ingredients and how you can get organised so it’s a breeze to serve up nourishing meals to your family that will knock their socks off.
And fresh meals that are made from scratch. I don’t use store bought packet mixes or canned soup.

My recipes are cost conscious, made using everyday ingredients and (mostly) pretty healthy. I don’t use a tub of cream or blocks of cream cheese in every sauce, and I only deep fry when I really think it’s worth it.
But, sometimes I feel the need to unleash the demon within. 🙂

OK, maybe a little more than sometimes……

A bit about me …
Born in Japan, raised in Sydney, Australia, I’ve travelled the world from Europe to the Middle East, across Asia and America.
In a previous life, I worked in corporate finance. Though I thoroughly enjoyed my “first” career, I wanted to pursue a future where my passion really lies – food. 🙂
Today, I’m extremely fortunate to be able to say that I make a living doing what I truly love – creating and sharing my favourite recipes with people from all over the world.
Growing up, budget was tight and even though my mother worked full time, we dined like royalty because she was so creative in the kitchen. And this is why I know it’s possible to make great, fresh food even if you’re short on time and on a budget.

The recipes on my blog draws on influences from my travels, my ever evolving fascination with how just a few simple ingredients can transform into something that tastes so amazing, and learning genius tricks from the masters of the world.
I want to show you how to make vibrant recipes made with everyday ingredients, spanning cuisines from around the world as well as classic comforts. Delicious recipes with the “wow” factor that are simple to make, cost effective and can often be prepared ahead.
I hope you find something on here to your taste! – Nagi x

What you will find on RecipeTin Eats
Seriously tasty simple recipes made using everyday ingredients. I don’t shop at gourmet stores.
Exciting New Ideas for Fast Midweek Meals.
Takeout favourites that truly taste like what you get at restaurants.
Easy recipes from around the world.
Can’t-Live-Without Classics. 🙂
Salads with oomph! Because if I’m having a salad as a meal, it’s got to be something special!
Cooking for a crowd. I like to entertain. So many of my recipes are convenient for cooking for a crowd, whether it be easy to make in large volumes, or make ahead.
Tried and tested recipes. I take great care to ensure my recipes work and are written concisely. I also add notes to help with substitutions (where possible) and explanations for things that I think may not be familiar to everyone.

What you won’t find on my blog
I don’t follow trends for the sake of it. I only share recipes I truly love. There will never be a cauliflower crust pizza on my blog.
I do not sacrifice taste just for the sake of reducing calories (or following a trend). My healthy recipes are accidentally healthy.
Food that looks pretty but tastes blah. Never, ever, ever!
Recipes with shortcuts that compromise on flavour. I will cheat at every opportunity. So long as it doesn’t compromise on flavour.

Difference in measures between countries
DID YOU KNOW….? Cups, tablespoons and teaspoon sizes differ between countries. For the vast majority of my recipes, the difference is not enough to affect the recipes – this mostly holds true for savoury recipes.
However, for baking recipes like cakes, slices, delicate desserts and especially cookies, the slight difference between measurements does matter.
So I ensure that my baking recipes are tested and written so that they will work for cooks in different countries. This also applies to any savoury recipes that are affected as well.

Oh – and I have a food bank!
During the height of the pandemic in 2021 when there was increased food insecurity in my community, I started my food bank, RecipeTin Meals, where we make homemade meals which are donated to the vulnerable.
I have 3 full time chefs who work in the kitchen making meals 5 days a week. Many of the recipes we use are from my website!

Finally … Don’t be shy, say “Hi”!
Drop me an email and say hi! Due to the sheer number of messages I receive, I sadly cannot respond to every one. However I do my very best to reply where I can (unless you’re SPAM!). One thing I can assure you is that I will see your message! You can contact me here.

Hi Nagi, my boyfriend and I have been cooking your dishes as a duo since we first got together. You’re recipes are pretty much all we cook. Thanks and keep the new dishes coming!
Wahoo! That’s great! N x
Hello….I am vegetarian and would love vegetarian stuff from u.
I was battling to provide tasty, healthy and not boring vegetarian food for my family. I tried your Veggie Burgers and they are excellent. Thank you for sharing your cooking wisdom. I’m here now in front of the computer looking to find other recipes that you have shared which we vegetarians can make. the eaters in this house are converted.
Love this site. It’s the only cookbook I use for new recipes. My wife loves all of the new tastes and flavours you have introduced us to. Just wondering; my daughter loves Glass Noodles, mung bean, right out the bowl with soya and siracha. I tried stir fry but have failed miserably. No one wanted to eat the gooey lump. Glass noodles look very cool on the plate though. Could you provide a recipe with protein and veg?
Dear Nagi,
I love how I can substitute many ingredients in your recipes. I have food allergies, and with the substitutions, I am able to enjoy new ways to prepare food. Thanks!!
That’s wonderful Debbie – I’m so glad you can enjoy my recipes 🙂
I discovered “Charlie” this weekend! Thank you SO MUCH! My family and I absolutely love Asian food and we’ve been looking for a perfect Chinese stir fry recipe. Charlie is exactly what we needed! 🙂
Wahoo! You’ll be converted!
Dear Nagi
I absolutely love your blog & I totally love your food. I prepared your Lamb shank with roaring success. It is a true winner. I especially love the fact that everything is prepared from scratch. Thank you so much for creating beautiful tasty food thats not complicated.
Wahoo, that’s great to hear Antoinette! N x
Your recipes are truly amazing; every time I see something new from your posts; I try it and yes you’re right, the taste is amazing if instructions followed correctly.
Thanks so much Albert ❤️
Love the food/meals you create, Simple, fast, easy and elegant,
Thank you!
You’re so welcome Luana!
Dear Nagi
Love your website. I am often one who browse extensively before settling on something. I have to say, I often would then reference your site to check that what someone else has said is correct. Thank you!!
And thank you for your recipes – have always worked for me!
Dear Nagi, I love your website for many reasons:
1.) You give us information on why recipes come together and the reasoning behind your cooking methods and ingredients used.
2.) I don’t have to wade through two pages of a backstory before getting to a recipe.
3.) You have totally de-mystified Asian cooking (see reason #1) and opened up a world of cooking options that are tasty, quick, and totally adaptable to vegetarian/vegan options (tofu tikka masala? Yes PLEASE!!).
3.) You embrace all types of cuisine, and your recipes never disappoint. And we’re sorta-kinda foodies who really like to cook without a lot of salt and fat to mask blandness. You’re our go-to source when planning weekly meals.
4.) Want to learn how to cook? Check out recipetineats.com. (Again, see #1). I’m really hoping at some point my newly-adult kids decide that they want to learn how to cook, because Recipe Tin Eats will be where we start learning.
Thanks for all of your hard work-I’m so glad I stumbled on your recipe for brown sauce (Charlie) a few years ago-now I can’t imagine cooking without you! 😉
Oh thank you so so SO much Shannon, hearing feedback like this makes it so worthwhile. I truly enjoy hearing what people think of my recipes. ❤️
I have very recently joined your exponentially growing fan club. After looking through a recipe or two (I was looking for something to make with lamb mince and i am still drooling when I think back to your koftas with yoghurt sauce and flatbreads I made!) I think I spent most of my weekend going through more and more of your recipes making mental notes which ones to try (OK, all of them). I am not surprised your blog is such a hit! The food is easy to make, utterly delicious, and your passion and generosity of spirit (to me a key ingredient in good food) shines through every recipe description, video and photo. Keep up the awesome work and I’ll be back… again and again.
Thank you so much for the awesome feedback Susi, that is so lovely to read ❤️
Hi Nagi,
Your website is my absolute favourite recipe website by far. I’ve tried a fair few of the recipes you have and am blown away with how delicious each one of them is, not to mention how simply you make them to follow especially with the videos and tips you leave. Thank you so much for sharing and thank you for making cooking so enjoyable. Keep up the amazing work!
You’re so welcome Louise, thank you so much for taking the time to write such amazing feedback ❤️
Hi Nagi,
I just happened onto your site while looking for some way to do pan fried fish that won’t stick. What perfect tips that work! Now I’m looking forward to trying the pot roast and actually about every recipe posted. I’m so glad I found you. Thank you for helping all of us! Gila

Good recipes
Thanks so much Donna!
Hi Nagi!
I’ve been following your blog for about a year now and you are my go-to girl when it comes to recipes.
I can pretty much guarantee that if you don’t eat it – we don’t eat it.
For my 50th last year we had a Mexican Fiesta with your recipes and by far it was the best party we’ve EVER had!
Love your work x
Woah what a compliment Sharon! Thanks so much!!!
As so many others have said I just stumbled on your sight. I am so happy I did. Your tip for cutting an “X” in the bottom of a mushroom to drain water out while baking Mushroom Pizza really caught my attention. I make these at least once a month and have tried everything to keep them from being so wet. Your recipe is the only one i’ve seen with the “X” tip. Thank you so much for this tip. I am making these tomorrow.
It’s life changing Rosemary!! I’m so glad you found me and that you’re learning new tricks 🙂
Hi Nagi
I stumbled across your steamed fish recipe in the internet , that your mom taught you..
I tried it with my $35 K Mart rice cooker steamer with a fresh $7 Trevally from Chaddy and it came out amazing ,so simply made but restruant quality at the end.
Thank you so much
Anil
That’s so great to head Anil!!!
Hi Mardi
I am an older lady and cook for just the two of us and I just found your site. I had lost interest in cooking until I saw these recipes so I’m about to get back into it with your help. Cheers
