SURPRISE! I’ve signed a contract for a RecipeTin cookbook! But this won’t be just another cookbook……This is going to be a cookbook filled with new recipes YOU ask for.

Let’s make this cookbook OURS!

RecipeTin Eats Cookbook Announcement

PS That’s just a mock cover!!

Finally – a cookbook!

This is real – a RecipeTin cookbook is happening! I’m committed – I can’t back out, I’ve signed a publishing contract with Pan Macmillan, a big name publishing house here in Australia.

Excited, nervous, daunted, scared…. all these words come to mind as I sit here, preparing myself for what will be the the most important and biggest project I have ever undertaken in my professional life.

Which brings me to the main purpose of sharing this news….

I want to make this cookbook WITH you, FOR you!

Let’s fill these pages with recipes YOU want! Mostly new, but even some favourites from the website!

RecipeTin Eats Cookbook Announcement

I’m going to be completely honest with you. I am under no illusion about how much work it will take to make a cookbook.

So for me to make this cookbook for myself, because, well, you know, it is kind of an ego boost to see your name on a printed book. That’s not enough motivation for me. I don’t deserve it! 😂

If, on the other hand, I make it for you…….. now THAT is what I call motivation. That gets me excited. That is what will give me the incentive to give this cookbook everything I’ve got, to make it the best it can be.

I want to make a cookbook that you will actually use all the time, rather than gathering dust on the bookshelf.

So tell me what you want in our cookbook! What type of recipes, even little details like adding nutrition information, storage and make ahead tips, or key dietary notes (like gluten free).

They will mostly be new recipes that are exclusively made for the cookbook though I will also include some long standing reader favourites from the website!

Let’s make this cookbook together. Leave your cookbook wish list in the comments section below!!

– Nagi x

PS Reminder – this cover is a fake!! 😂 You know full well I am going to ask for your opinion when choosing the real cover. ❤️

Life of Dozer

I know today’s big announcement is all about me, me, me. But that’s no excuse to skip a Dozer update! Here he is, disrespecting my cookbook already. Or possibly just thinks the photo is real food. It could be either. 🙄

Dozer sniffing RecipeTin Eats cookbook mock up

Though he has already expressed he is willing and able to help in any way possible with the cookbook. Thanks Dozer! We all know what your “help” involves….

Would love to have you include the recipe for savory sweet potatoes with brown butter and sage. My daughters couldn’t stop raving about it, and that was about two years ago! Thank you.

Hi Nagi, Fantastic idea, especially since I and some other family members use your website multiple days a week. Easy, delicious mid-week meals and asian dishes of all kinds are appreciated. I have a a son who goes nuts over saucy dishes with lots of flavor and your spin on things usually hits the mark. Also more recipes with vegetables as sides or mains. Love your spirit and Dozer brings a smile every time. Can not wait for this cook book.

So excited about your book!! My favourite recipe of yours is the Schwarma chicken and rice. I have passed that along to countless friends and family. I bet that would be a hit in the book. I also think easy and tasty curries like another fav, your lentil curry, would be great to see in your book. I think one of your strengths is taking comforting dishes and making them accessible. A creamy mushroom chicken from scratch would be a new fav for me, as well as a mac and cheese that tastes like the old fashioned one mom used to make, (but even better) would be great. I am gluten free and can modify most recipes to be gf, but if you provided some guidance on some recipes that have substantial flour, that would be useful for me. Thanks, and good luck authoring!

absolutely love your website, read it every day of course love Dozer, reminds me of my departed golden.
anyway I am 85 and still cooking thanks in part to you. My husband always asks “is this an experiment or a Nagi”
We love stir fry and Asian foods. It would be helpful is you could include simple conversions to make your recipes for 2 servings for smaller households.
Thanks for all you do to keep us old folks interested.

Nagi, can’t wait for your book!
Add some alternatives for light/low carbs for white potatoes, white rice, white pasta- yeah I know, the good stuff- for diabetics.

Simple Swedish meatballs. Love ’em, not fun to make.

Include a page with roasting times for different meats.

Hard to think of much, since you already have great recipes.

    Good luck!

I need a chart that shows the difference in Aussi, American, England, Japanese (metric) and what ever other measurements are out there to cook with, I am a DUNCE when it comes to figuring out the basics!

That’s great news Nagi. Hmm, I have a couple of thoughts. Penang curry would certainly be a nice addition to the cookbook! Since you hate bananas I won’t suggest anything of that sort. 😛

A section on cooking equipment, knife maintenance and sourcing common and rare ingredients would do nicely to set the stage for your book.

Like every other cooking book in existence it’s perfectly fine to divide meals by region (e.g. Italian, Thai etc) but something you often don’t see (imo) is a section celebrating the multicultural aspects of Australia’s community. Everyone expects Christmas but what about Chinese New Year, Jewish and Muslim holidays, Australia classics, Easter, Polynesian etc?

As to the framing of each recipe, the balancing of visual representation and detail will be tricky to transfer to a printed medium without those wonderful videos bringing it all together. However, I think the modular design in which you go over the ingredients, the cooking process, substitution recommendations and side options make each recipe stand out and allow readers to explore alternatives and seek other ways to cater to different tastes. Sometimes a particular dish demands two or three pages to justify all the stages and ingredients involved and that’s OK. A recipe is a journey created through the senses and rewarded for its effort and time. And subject to Dozer’s approval of course!

As an amateur graphic designer I can’t wait to see how the meals are presented through photos and embellished with your classic aussie humour. Be creative and bold and I think the book will be a great success and stand out amongst all the other billion famous chef tomes out there. 🙂

I love the idea of your cookbook. I also think the test cover is a great cover. Simplicity is attractive. I like your non-dairy recipes (no cheese or milk products) I use so many of them. You and Dozer……..just lovely!

This is the day I’ve been waiting for since I discovered your blog! I need no other recipes than your amazing meals. I made Thai Green Curry last night and I feel like you’ve taught me how to cook better than the restaurant eat out at. I would love for the cookbook to go heavy on the Asian inspired meals and some Middle Eastern themes. Also, some breads to accompany these great meals. I love the Naan recipe and the Easy Yeast Bread and would love a place I can flip open the book to in case I forget how to make them, which, honestly, at this point I do have memorized. Congratulations on the cookbook! I’m ready to pre-order. I assume it will reach us here in the US of A as well!

Hi Nagi. I have been cooking with your recipes for about 3 year, since I came back from a trip to Australia/New Zealand in 2019. Thanks for doing what you do, it been a life saver during these lockdowns.

When we were allowed back into restaurants for in room dining, I had to go to one of my favorite restaurants Glass Monkey, in Edmonton, AB. Canada.

They have the most amazing Pappardelle with Braised Pork & Wild Mushrooms. I would love to see your version of it!

Good luck with the cookbook! Can wait to try out the recipes.
